Many home adaptations may be eligible for financial support through a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG), provided by your local authority. Whether you own your home, rent privately, or are a housing association tenant, you could qualify for either full or partial funding to help cover the cost of necessary adaptations.
The DFG is a means-tested government grant, with a maximum value of £30,000, and is typically paid directly to the contractor or Home Improvement Agency (HIA) managing your project – such as ourselves.
Your journey with the DFG begins by contacting your local authority (see links below for relevant contacts in our region). They may conduct a means test to assess financial eligibility. If eligible, an Occupational Therapist (OT) will usually be assigned to assess your clinical needs and recommend appropriate adaptations. You’ll also be introduced to approved HIA providers and contractors, including Clark & Partners.
Working collaboratively, we’ll support your OT’s recommendations by visiting your home, carrying out necessary surveys, and providing tailored solutions and quotations to ensure the best outcome for your needs.
If you are advised that you don’t qualify for a DFG, we can still help. Many of our customers choose to proceed with their adaptations through private funding or explore other financial support options. We’re here to discuss all possible routes with you, ensuring your home remains safe, accessible, and comfortable.
In addition to the DFG, there are various charities and organisations that can assist with securing funding from multiple sources. We regularly work with local and national funding bodies and are happy to support your communication with them to help your project move forward smoothly.
